The Master Artisan worked diligently on His perfect creation. [Psalm 139:13-14] How beautiful she was in His sight when He presented her for all the world to see. He placed her among the rest of His masterpieces. As they looked upon the new work of art, each one saw improvements they could make. They began to draw from the clay of the world and adding corrections to His craft. First, a finely crafted mask of pride to hide her naturally radiant face. Second, clay of insecurity was carefully applied here and there. Third, a layer of colorful impatience was brushed upon her head. On and on they continued, adding more and more clay of the world. Each layer hardening upon the Artisan’s original creation little by little, making her virtually unrecognizable. From within the stone she began to cry for freedom. The weight upon her was more than she could bear. [Romans 12:2] She cried out to her Creator for aid. He lovingly came to her side. Carefully, He removed His chisel. He explained to her the work He must do and how painful it would be. She knew, if she truly desired freedom, it must be done. She braced herself for Him to begin. Carefully and lovingly He began to chisel away the world’s “corrections” and “improvements.” The process was not quick and was terribly difficult. The pain…almost unbearable. Many times, she considered pleading for Him to cease, but chose to persevere. [Philippians 3:13-14] After what seemed like weeks, the chiseling stopped. The Master Artisan took His creation and her new painful rough edges and set her beside His River. [Ephesians 5:25-26] She immersed herself in the soothing waters. The water flowed over and smoothed away her rough edges and cleansed her thoroughly. She was now free. She was now once again His perfect creation.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10 NLT
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice–the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Romans 12:1 NLT
